Wohl Associates
is a consulting firm that specializes in the commercialization of new and emerging technologies. Today, the firm’s interests are targeted on enterprise software, SOA, SaaS, Cloud Computing, Open Source Software, and new business models. Amy Wohl is the principal consultant of Wohl Associates and is a well-known speaker, writer, consultant, and commentator on the information industry. Our clients are software companies, from well-established household names to start-ups.

Wohl Associates has been in business since 1984. In addition to consulting, it publishes two blogs and, from time to time, publishes reports on industry trends. Some of these reports are public (free or for a fee); others are for clients.

About Amy Wohl

Amy Wohl is an expert on the computer market, its products and dynamics; she has been observing, analyzing, commenting on, speaking and writing about, and consulting to the information industry for more than thirty years.

The focus of Wohl’s expertise and interest is the commercialization of new technology and the creation of new markets and business models. She has provided guidance to clients seeking to invest in or create and market products in areas ranging from word processing, desktop publishing, and office automation to voice processing, development tools, digital rights management, new operating systems (and their platforms and interfaces), Linux, Java, and web services. Current interests include SOA, Software as a Service (SaaS), and Cloud Computing. She has written a book, How to Succeed at SaaS: Computing in the Cloud.

Wohl is president of Wohl Associates, a consulting firm established in 1984, whose clients include every major systems and software vendor. She has also consulted to the U.S., state, and foreign governments, to major corporation, and to universities and hospitals.

Mrs. Wohl is Editor and Publisher of the blogs Amy D. Wohl's Opinions and Amy D. Wohl’s Opinions on SaaS. She maintains a hobby blog on gourmet food. She previously edited The TrendsLetter and The Wohl Report.

Mrs. Wohl is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and seminars in the U.S., Canada, Europe, South America, Africa, Asia, and Australia. She is especially well known for her keynotes on new technology areas and the future of technology.

She has served as an expert witness and legal consultant on many occasions.

Wohl has served as a board member and advisor to several corporations. Currently, she is a principal and advisor to Interactive Intelligence, an Internet design firm. She also serves as an advisor to a number of new technology start-ups.

Mrs. Wohl teaches courses on technology in the Organizational Dynamics Masters program at the University of Pennsylvania. Most recently she has been teaching a course on Why New Technologies Succeed or Fail which she is now turning into a book. She was series editor for SouthWestern Publishing's OSRA Office Automation Curriculum textbook series and was co- author of two of its volumes. She is a contributor to the Encyclopedia of Computer Science.

Mrs. Wohl was an advisor to SaaSCon, a conference on the SaaS market. She was a member of the Advisory Board of WITI (Women in Technology International). She was named one of the top 100 Women in Computing in 1994. She was program chairman of the first Office Automation Conference. She is past president of the Office Systems Research Association and served on the board of Women in Information Processing. She was the founding president of the Philadelphia Chapter of IWP. She is a member of OSRA, ACM, SIGOA, and SIGPC. Mrs. Wohl is the recipient of the Augusta Ada Lovelace Award from the Association of Women in Computing. Mrs. Wohl was a member of the National Academy of Sciences Panel on the Effect of Technology on Employment.

Prior to forming Wohl Associates, Mrs. Wohl was President of Advanced Office Concepts Corporation. For five years, she served at Datapro Research Corporation, a division of McGraw-Hill, as an Executive Editor and Consultant.

Mrs. Wohl received a B.A. in Economics from LaSalle College and an M.A. in Economics from Temple University, where she was an N.D.E.A. Doctoral Fellow.
